Black Sails – Review

Black Sails – Seasons 1 and 2

Black Sails is a fairly recent TV series available on Amazon Prime. It’s set in the Golden Age of Piracy, (roughly 1650-1750), and follows the story of the pirates who colonised New Providence Island, otherwise known as Nassau, in the Bahamas. It was written as the prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, (if you’re not familiar with this story Google it now), and focuses on how Captain Flint acquired the Spanish Urca Gold.

Daredevil season 2 to debut against Batman v Superman on March 25th

With Marvel’s most recent Netflix show Jessica Jones showing signs of success it’s time to start looking towards the original first, Daredevil season 2. Although Marvel and Netflix have yet to set an official release date for it a rumour suggests that it will debut directly against DC’s Batman v Superman.

Based on info gathered from “independent sources” ComicBook.com is reporting that Daredevil season will debut on March 25th. The same day as Batman v Superman Dawn Of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters. In 2012, Judge Dredd – a law enforcer from 2000’s comic book series, made it to the big screen again. Dredd originally had a movie in 1995 starring Sylvester Stallone. In 1995 Dredd was the most famous Judge but was convicted of a crime that his evil brother Rico had committed, and thus goes to great efforts to clear his name.

It is no secret that Marvel are currently filming one of their next projects, Ant man. Henry Pym .A.K.A Hank Pym first appeared in 1962 as a scientist in his own 7 page special in Tales of Astonish #35. In this issue he had perfecting a chemical that can shrink anything when he accidentally spills some on himself making him shrink. In this issue he also learned that he has a mind control power over ants and in the very same episode restores his size with a counteracting chemical.

JJ Murphy dies after filming just four days of Game of Thrones

JJ Murphy had been cast for Season 5 of the hugely successful HBO show Game of Thrones as Ser Denys Mallister – a new character.

He had collapsed and died suddenly on Friday 8th August at the age of 86 just four days into filming the show and was still set to film more scenes but Game of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff told The Independent: “We will not be recasting J.J. Murphy. “He was a lovely man, and the best Denys Mallister we could have hoped for. And now his watch is ended.”

Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons and Futurama) used to write a comic strip called life in hell, starring a bunny who couldn’t help but end up in an escapade or wind up injuring itself, or just being the butt of a practical joke.
