iPhone 8 to have battery capacity of 5.5″ iPhone in 4.7″ body with OLED display

OLED iPhone 8 to have significantly larger battery

A note was obtained by MacRumors from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo where he mentioned the iPhone 8 will use a more expensive stacked logic board design to allow Apple to use a 2,700mAh battery (comparable to the 5.5″ Plus models) in a 4.7″ form factor.

Deadpool smashes box office records with $150 million opening weekend

Deadpool has launched to a box office record breaking total of $150 million in the US and $265 million worldwide. The previous record for President’s Day weekend was set by Fifty Shades of Grey which opened at $93 million.

Deadpool was stuck in development for over 10 years until the test footage was leaked online two years ago. Fans bombarded 20th Century Fox with messages that forced them to green light the project. Before this film, Deadpool was last seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine where he received a negative reception partly due to the fact his mouth was sewn shut.

Recently, a post on Reddit detailed a new iPhone bug that bricks any 64-bit iOS device when its date is set it January 1 1970. Since this post, many news outlets have written articles about this bug and it didn’t take long until there were “guides” that tricked users into bricking their iPhone.

Smartflix lets you watch the global Netflix catalogue

Smartflix is a new application for Windows and OS X that allows you to access Netflix’s complete global catalogue of 14,000 films and TV shows.

Netflix users in the UK can currently only access 2,985 films and TV shows across all genres.

Paramount wants films to be available to stream two weeks after their release in cinemas

Paramount is trying to change the way movies are released

Paramount Pictures has made a deal with two leading cinema chains to make two upcoming releases available on demand just two weeks after their release. AMC Theatres and Cineplex have both agreed to Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse to be available on demand just 17 days after release. The current home release cycle is 90 days however this fails to adapt to new needs of consumers and encourages piracy. Paramount conducted a study that found 72% of consumers were not aware of the 90 day delay.

Microsoft announces Windows 10 release date

Microsoft has announced that their next version of Windows – Windows 10 will be available on July 29th as a free upgrade to all genuine customers running Windows 7 and 8.1.

Users will have one year to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Once upgraded, Microsoft will provide free updates for life. You can upgrade by clicking the small Windows icon on the bottom right of your task bar to reserve your free copy and be notified when it launches.

Sony cancels controversial movie ‘The Interview’ after threats

Sony cancels film about Kim Jong Un’s assassination

After Sony has been hacked and had confidential information leaked online, they have decided to pull The Interview from theatres as threats have been made of “9/11” style killings at screenings of the film.

The film stars Seth Rogan and James Franco and depicts a fictional plot to assassinate Kim Jong-un.

Star Wars: Episode VII confirmed to be Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The title for the upcoming Star Wars film has officially been announced via a tweet from @StarWars

The tweet has also confirmed that principal photography for the eagerly anticipated film has finished.

The new Star Wars film is directed by J.J Abrams and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Gwendolie Christie, Oscar Isaac and Luptia Nyong’o.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18, 2015.
